Databases Course Evaluation Meeting #2 Date: 2021-03-05 Participants: Ana Bove, Irja Vuorela, Johannes Kvernes, Michelle Schneider, Yenan Wang, Hampus Jernkrook ======================== Overall things are going well and both students and TA's seem to have a good experience with the course. ======================== ======================== Online vs on-campus studies: - Online somehow more convenient and allows for more sleep and other positive aspects. - But also online misses out on some of the interaction between students and lecturer that on-campus provides. - More quizzes could allow for more interaction, possibly. - Lab sessions online very convenient. Easy to get help, feels faster. At the same time on-campus has its benefits, e.g. - no technique struggles :) - more person-to-person interaction. ======================== ======================== Experience and thoughts on the course: - Good structure, exercises and assignments. - Good balance between theoretical and practical parts of the course. - Nice with the guest lecturer who illuminated the connections to other parts of data and computer science and what to look into further on. - Last week a bit stressful for some that thought they would have more time. They understood the deadline for part 4 was the last Friday, but missed that the demo has to be done before. The information is written in the course info, but one should maybe make it even more clear There was a suggestion to put the deadline for part 4 earlier, but this would be a problems for those who need few more days to make the system work. So clearer information during the course and an earlier remind about the demo could work. ========================
