Learning objectives and syllabus

Learning objectives:

- Apply to operational service and troubleshooting in a ship machinery systems including auxilary systems
- Identify the different elements necessary to a maintenance work to be carried out in a safe, sustainable and economical manner, and taking into account the operating conditions for the vessle.
- Plan the daily operation of a complex machine systems in a merchant navy vessel.
- Evaluate the different operating conditions of a ship's machinery and make relevant actions of how the operating affect the environment, economy and maintenance aspects.
- Categorize malfunctions in a engine system and explain how they can influence the operation of the ship from a security perspective.
- Comparing different operating economic case for a ship and how different the parameter that controls the operation affects the economic parameters.
- Propose measures and changes for operating the propulsion of a ship.
- Plan and structure an oral presentation within the course's main tasks
-Write and structure- reports in English so that the report describes in a clear and coherent way of the problem / task
-Evaluates parts of a vessel's commercial position and proposes strategies for improvement and development

- Apply an understanding of the control system function and how a regulators different parameters affecting a diesel engine under normal operating conditions.
