Course syllabus

Welcome to ACEX30, study year 2025/2026!

This Canvas page (ACEX30) serves as the joint course page for 30 and 60 ECTS master’s theses (ACEX30 and ACEX60) at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering (ACE). It provides important information on rules, processes, and requirements for MSc projects at ACE. Students and examiners should refer to this page for guidance. All students performing an MSc thesis project with an examiner at ACE must register for ACEX30 or ACEX60. Hence, students from all master’s programmes at Chalmers are welcome.

The guidelines here align with the general information about Master's thesis work at Chalmers but are tailored to the studies and work conditions at ACE. Note that certain practicalities may differ between the master’s programmes. If discrepancies arise, follow your programme’s specific instructions.

Access to the page

FOR STUDENTS: Access to this page is enabled after you have registered for the MSc thesis course with the code ACEX30 (if registered for ACEX60, we will manually grant you access to ACEX30). Further below, you can find a description of the registration procedure. These instructions are available on the program pages well in advance of your registration.

FOR EXAMINERS: Your study administrator will give you access to this page.

Registration to MSc thesis work

To register and access ACEX30 in Canvas, you need to complete the Thesis application form and have it approved. You must do this at least four weeks before your estimated start date. One registration form is enough regardless of the number of students in the thesis project (1 or 2). You must also meet the requirements that are stated in the corresponding programme syllabus (see the Student Portal). For further information and support, see the link above to the registration form.
